I can't believe that after however many years I've been in the Scrapbook industry I'm finally going to CHA. I hear that it's changed a lot over the years, but I'm very much looking forward to going along!
And even more exciting for me is that I'll be teaching make n takes at the Prima Booth. Yay!

For the first time, I decided to give the December Daily a go this year. I thought as the kids get older things change and I'd like to record what we're up to this year. Especially with the build going on.
To make it more interesting for me, I created this album then sold it as a kit. It sold out. Thank you to those who brought it. I love how it turned out so thought I'd show everyone what it looks like.
I'm thrilled with the front cover. I love the softness of it. To me it feels really chrismassy and those bells are so sweet!
I kept the first page pretty simple as I knew how I wanted to just explain what was happening as a background for the rest of the album.
I have included quite a few pockets throughout the album. These are for extra photos/tickets/euphemera/more journaling.
I have also used a lot of foam tape throughout the album. To give little bits of extra 'omph' to a page. Here I cut out the middle of the '3' and popped it up on foam tape.
Page 5 folds out.
Again a little pocket.
I used double sided paper which meant that the back of each front, could be a page in and of itself. I used a variety of companies papers to make this book... Prima, Teresa Collins, 7Dots, & Bo Bunny (were the main ones).
Some pages are simple, self explainatory.....others more layered....
Some pages even form part of the design for the following pages.
And an occassional page was left totally blank for the person making it to fill in as they desire! But I had a thought for the ladies who brought this kit. The sequin ribbon that was in your kit would look amazing down the right hand side of this page (above)...
I bought the cutest little tag dies for Xmas, so just had to use them. Cutting them out for each kit (of course!).
I 'think' my favourite page of the album is this next one. Day 13.
I adore the Xmas tree die. It's so cute. Plus the paint cracking!

Page 20 was just a plain page the same as this one without the pocket. So the music paper. It made for a great double page.
I used a bit of packaging on this page. Plus some gorgeous 7Dots papers.
This is possibly my second favourite page. I just adore making shaker areas in cards so thought I'd try it for a page in my album. It worked a treat.

Finally page 25 - Xmas day.
In between each page is an extra 'see through' page which I've hand made and included. This gives me places to put photos. I've cut plain white papers to put inside mine, then I stick my photos on, and extra journaling if I need it.
I am looking forward to Xmas day with Andys family first, then at my Dad's. And I'm warning you now McClunes and Ashby's. I'm going to be taking lots of photos to capture those memories! Grin.
So that's my 'December Daily' album. Totally hand made from scratch. I am behind on it. But have lots of photos and memories to add when I get a spare moment.

I'm so excited to present my latest kit for sale. I have long loved the idea of a 'December Daily' type album but never seemed to get myself organised enough to have it ready on time. This year, somehow I was more organised so I decided to make a few extra kits to sell to anyone who would like one.
I have used a few different companies in this album. Prima (of course!), Teresa Collins (has the most amazing Xmas papers!) and Bo Bunny (more gorgeous Xmas product!). Plus alongside these fabulous manufacturers, I've also included a variety of 'day to day' products that perfectly fit the Xmas theme. Things like muslin, lace, ribbon, tags, envelopes etc.
The album is 8x8" in size so is a beautiful size to add in photos, journaling, little trinkets and sentiments from your December, this 2015.
Because of it's size, you need lots of product to make it (gosh what a shame!). At last count, I included 14 pieces of 12x12 paper, 4 pieces of 12x4 paper, a piece of burlap, some muslin, chipboard, stickers, doilies, flair buttons, ribbon, bells, tags, lace stickers, and bakers twine.
So what's the price you ask? Just $55 NZD plus postage. Postage around NZ will be no more than $8, cheaper if you are around Auckland.
Plus I also have a cool die from Elizabeth Craft dies which cuts "Merry Christmas" in the perfect size for this album, or cards. You can add this die to your kit for just $9.
I will have them ready to post on Monday/Tues which gives you plenty of time to get them ready before December hits, or to make as you go through each day.
To complete the kit you only need to have your standard tool kit, white paint, foam tape, a needle, your favourite border punch, ink and some circle punches or a steady hand to cut circles.

In case you haven't caught up with the news on Facebook, Prima's September Special Delivery kit is out now.
I've been helping Kiwis and Aussies get it cheaper by bringing it in for people who confirm they want it and will pay for it. By buying in bulk, the shipping is cheaper and makes it more accessible to everyone.
I'll be putting in my order tomorrow. The cost to receive it at your door is $71 for Kiwis and $83 for Aussies.
Find my post on facebook and leave your name. By doing this, you are commiting to paying for the kit and I will order you one (I don't want any left over as I'm just doing this as a service to you guys!).
It takes about two weeks for the kit to come from USA to me, I then take another 2-3 days to pack and post.
But believe you me, it's worth it!

I think I'm all ready. It's all set up and ready for people to come and have a look. I'm so thankful to the lovely Claire Mason who helped me. It would have taken me so much longer if not for her help during the day. And I even had some friends pop over for some early shopping.

Every time I look at the photos I think wow, wouldn't it be nice to have a room this big as your craft room?!
Especially with all that beautiful light!

So my time in Wellington has come and gone. Just like that. Isn't it funny how time just marches right on. I used to know someone who never used to worry about exams. He would say, but it's just time. They'll come and they'll go. Interesting way to think about it. Anyway.....
Here's a look at the classes we completed...

We made a shadowbox for this card and put some beautiful shiny sequins inside. They were sooooo pretty!
We also did a layout class. The idea was to complete two layouts in class, and take away product to complete the third...
We did a ton of fussy cutting, die cutting, working with texture paste and the papers. Making them work for us, not the other way around.
And finally I did my first Project Life Class. It was great fun. Lots of different techniques and ideas on how to build layers in your PL styled album, without all the bulk of flowers (that I normally use). We used stamps, punches, embossing powder, tags, transparencies, etc
It was a fabulous day of teaching with a great group of ladies! And I have some tips for bringing extra things to use for next time (if there is a next time) right Trina M?

Last month I arranged to get a ton of preordered Prima Special Delivery kits delivered to me which I then unpacked and repacked and sent them on to those who ordered one.
I did this as a way for you guys who love Prima to get the kit at a reasonable cost.
Because, shipping to NZ/Aussie is so expensive, but shipping as one big group is cost effective. Thus the savings. It is on a slower shipment, but that's ok as it's only a couple weeks difference.
So this month, there is a new kit (see above) and I've got a ton of people who have already signed up. I'm happy to do the same exact thing (Aussie cost went up a couple $ as the shipping was more than estimated). So for kiwis, the kit is $71 (includes getting it from Prima to you!) and Aussies it's $81.
Each kit comes with a ton of product (worth $129 USD) and 4-5 instructions (found on the Live with Prima website) from well known Scrapbook artists on how you can use the product. Sounds amazing right?! Yep!

The colours work so well with any topic and have a wonderful vintage feel to them as well.
For once, I haven't used any flowers on a Prima layout. Amazing huh?! but I have done a ton of fussy cutting which does show some flowers from the papers on the layout. I will be creating more with this delightful kit over the next little while and will keep you up to date as I go along....

Well to say the Special Delivery kit is packed with goodies is an understatement! Seriously! I have made an altered item, a layout and a card with it and haven't even made a dent in all the paper in the kit! LOVE it.
So thought I'd show you in case you were interested in getting a kit and were sitting on the fence. Take a look.....
First off is a card I made the other day.
I'm loving yellow at the moment and this kit has some in it which I've used over and over.
Are you wondering how you can see through it? Pretty cool huh?! I've used a transparency then popped some paper over the back of it so you can't see the transparency and it looks like the circle is just floating in mid air.
Next is the project that I made for Prima as part of the group of instructions you get for free when you order the kit. I love this project. I've taken a packet from some Prima Wildflowers then altered it.
See that seam binding hanging down through the cylinder? It's holding a mini album...
It's a really cute little album, which I've sewn together. You'll get to see how when you purchase the kit.
The third thing I made was a layout. The photo was taken at SENZ and when I saw it I was shocked. More about that at the end.
The only thing you'll see here today that isn't in the kit, is that muslin on this layout.
As I said at the beginning, I wasn't too impressed with that photo. Oh man! But as I tell you all in my classes, it's really really important to be in our scrapbooks, to take photos of ourselves and so I decided to use it anyway, and I put some journaling on the back explaining my feelings. Thought I'd share.....
I don’t like this photo. Might even go as far as saying I hate it. Well, not of Sarah, but of me.
Goodness. When you put on weight you often don’t realise how bad it’s getting until its way too late.
But as I tell all the wonderful ladies in my classes, it doesn’t matter what you look like. It just doesn’t. And more importantly, we need to believe that.
We all need to take photos of ourselves, we need to be in our scrapbooks. We need to be present for the family to remember us, what we look like. Our smiles. Our expressions. The love in our eyes. Us.
That is far more important than anything else. And that’s what the quote on the beautiful Prima paper says. So why not own it? Why not make it true? Why not embrace the inner beauty so my daughter doesn’t grow up with the same insecurities and hang ups I did.
And so I scrapbooked this photo. I scrapbooked my love of my daughter. I scrapbooked us together. Hanging out. Having lunch. Her watching me teach. A memory my daughter has of ‘the best day of the school holidays’.

Thoughts surrounding weight have been on my mind alot of late. I've found the most amazing blog that speaks to me. She's called The Militant Baker. One day I'll share more of my thoughts on weight, but for now, I think that says it all.
As you can see, I've got 3 pretty comprehensive projects, and yet, I still have a ton of product left in the box.

This weekend past, I had the pleasure of teaching a group of friends in a private setting. It was wonderful. A few of the women hadn't done any kind of card making, so it meant a very quick learning curve, but I was sooooo proud of what they achieved.
Plus, I had a jolly good time! It is a lovely group, and I'm looking forward to going back again in September with some new ideas....
I decided as I didn't know many of the group to use the beautiful Stationers Desk range of papers to create our cards. I thought that this range has a lovely vintage look to it which most people love.
Here's a look at what we made.....

I brought the die to make the pop up bits from Artfull Crafts at SENZ a couple of weekends ago. I just knew I'd make good use of it. I know you can cut your own pop up bits, but this die really does make it so easy.
Don't ya just love the chooks?! What a wonderful die that I brought a looooong time ago and finally used! Some people used the chooks, others ducks, pigs, or a mixture. The cards looked amazing!
Card 3 - A good ole box card
I LOVE these cards. They are sooooo easy to make, yet look incredibly special.
Card 4 - an easel card
This was probably the most simple of the cards, yet again, looks really special because of the way it's put together and stands up. Easel cards are just delightful.
Most people got through three cards and had everything done for the fourth card to just be put together.
It was a fabulous day and I thank my new friend Denise for asking me to come and teach!

Well, this time last week I was getting ready to take part in some last final classes with Limor. They were put together at the last minute and were aimed at showing people what they could do with sprays & stamps, basically a quick induction into mixed media. I loved it. Learnt lots and am so pleased Limor and I could work together on these mini classes.
The ladies loved it too. For $25 you got to take away a bottle of spray and the tags you made, and there were 3-4 in 45mins! A great answer for learning quickly.
It was lovely to hang out with Limor. A real treat as we did some tourist things before SENZ and then shared a wall during SENZ so had a bit of fun banter between the classes. Grin.
The rest of SENZ went in a whirl for me. I set up mostly on Thursday evening, then popped in early on Friday morning and had help from Trina and Liz to set up the remainder (thank you so much ladies!!!). It was full on from there. 6 Prima classes over the Friday and Sat. We had so much fun!
I had a wonderful room to work in. Big, warm (sometimes too warm, sometimes too cold!), with storage behind those big curtains.
In each class we had two tables set up (sometimes three) just for all the techniques we worked on. Painting, stencils, texture paste, die cutting, punching. So many opportunities to learn new things.
This year the class rooms were open, so people wandering past could see what was going on. At first I was a little intimidated by this, but think it was a wonderful way for people to see what was going on as they meandered between classes.
My 3in1 class was once again a huge success. I had full classes for both sessions I taught it. And boy did everyone work hard! It was always a hard ask with these particular layouts to get them all done, but it was fabulous to have so many things to do to get them finished and try something new out.
And yep, there was lots of my work on display, both in the classroom, around the walls and downstairs in the Create Booth.
I have been tragic at taking group shots of classes lately, but did get this fabulous one over the weekend.
And as for SENZ shopping..... what can I say?

Of course there were so many more amazing wonderful stalls than this and the cake area had a huge impact on SENZ this year. Lots of amazing stalls and cakes. Some of them defying gravity!
Would love to hear what you thought about the event - being at a new venue was a little bit new to all of us, and there were a few teething problems, like the lighting, but the feedback from people in my classes was that they loved it.
And as always I did too. Was wonderful to meet up with friends old and new.

If you're a friend on facebook, you will have seen my terribly untidy desk after a few days of 'playing' with a gorgeous Scrapmatt's chipboard piece. Well, I thought it was about time to show you how it turned out.....
Do you know what I love best about the Scrapmatts product? It has a 'burnt' edge which means you don't have to ink it or colour it or even sand it. Fantastic.
Now you can see it when the doors are opened. I added in some cute little bottles filled with gorgeousness, some lovely Prima embellishments and lots and lots of 'wallpapering' with Prima papers.
Here's a close up look....
The sides and back didn't get left out. I had to embellish and play with them too.
It did take me a few days to complete, but that's because I covered every little piece of chipboard. But I think also because I was having fun. Designing little bits to fill the cupboard, making sure I had the right papers to compliment each other, trying out some die cutting to fill areas where I wanted something 'more'. It really was just for fun.
This wee cabinet stands approx 23cm high and is approx 19cm wide.

This month I sat down and created using Prima's July BAP (Build a page) as my inspiration. It was a very bright and cheery sketch by Kasia Kryminska.
And while I stuck to the sketch pretty closely, my colours and the brightness didn't.
I choose more muted colours with a black and white photo. I chose muted flowers, and used stencils and texture paste and muslin to add texture to my layout.
I used Prima's color bloom sprays to colour the resin frame. It went from white to grey. LOVE the new colour and look.
There is a wee sneak peek on this layout. See those stars made from texture paste (coloured grey to match the rest of the layout), they are a new Finn stencil which Prima are bringing out at CHA in July. Yay!
I really like the way this layout is quite simple, allowing the journaling and photo to be the stars. And I really love how when you are short of time, or stuck in a mojo less place, a sketch can help boost your creativity.
