I'm with you Trina and sending you hugs,I also have a very scarce relationship with my mum. But I dont feel guilty anymore, I just let it go a long time ago and build my daughters relationships with me now

Unfortunately it takes two to make a relationship and sometimes that just does not happen. Your thoughts are well spoken. I am sure your relationship with your own children will be better for it. Celebrate what you have got. Happy Mothers Day.

Definitely in the same boat and its her choice, not mine. I don't feel guilty either and know that a day of reckoning will come for her and she will realise what she is missing out on, especially in the lives of not only her children but all the grandchildren too. I had a great Mothers Day :)

A relationship is two sided and sometimes as you say its best to walk away.
Just note that you are working really hard to make sure that this cycle gets broken and doesn't carry on with your children.

I have read your public posts about mothers and families for too long now to keep quiet yet again.

This post made me cry... OUR mother has tried again and again to make things right and feels that nothing she does is good enough for you ... Is she perfect? Hell no! Her other three daughters love her anyway because we know she did (and does) her best. I only hope your own children are more understanding and forgiving of your mistakes than you are of hers.
