Yep. Just went and bought for a child under the wishing tree...... but man, is it hard buying for a little girl when I've got boys.

I'm trying to instill the giving attitude to my boys, but, I'd say we've spoilt them up till now, and it's hard to reverse. Your kids are at a good age for it to sink in. (hopefully!!!)

So so good for them to learn!!! good lesson Mama!!!

Yeah, we do this every year just before Christmas. The boys and I go through their entire playroom from head to toe! We throw away any broken toys or things that aren't good enough to pass on, then we set aside a BIG box for giving to the Hospice shop, the Salvation Army or the City Mission. I've done this for (when they were babies) and with (as soon as they were old enough to talk) the boys every year, and now they know it is part of what we do at Christmas. They like being part of giving to less fortunate families, and often say things like, "I don't play with this much, and I think another little boy or girl would really enjoy it" before putting it into the "give away" box. I love that they totally get it. And it helps to reinforce the real meaning of Christmas - giving, not getting.

Such a great lesson for all kids to learn. I'm sure next year will be tons easier as your 3 now know what it means to do this and really BE part of the whole process, and they will probably be excited about it next year!
