funny what you think the kids will need to know... and sometimes what they are happy to know.... who made them and who loves them... staight to the point...dont you love kids. Good idea to scrap it...

just perfect - good to get these things out in the open while the kids are younger I think, then they just accept things as fact and that's that - right, Andys turn...

You know, Trina, the same thing happened to me with my boys about two weeks before my MIL died and she had always requested a cremation and scattering her ashes. We didn't even know she was ill, and the boys age 5 & 6 at that time asked me what happened to dead people. A discussion followed about burial and cremation and what people prefer, so when the time came they were just so fine about it. Well done for going with the "right time"!

I know you said you wanted to get it down before you forgot but I wanted to say thanku for sharing this with us. It's really beautiful and I can't wait to see how you scrap it.

Well done Trina. I am a firm believer in telling the kids things like that when the time is right. Kids are so accepting of things that way. A cousin of mind was shocked when as a teenager she found out her mother had been married twice as she had very firm views on only marrying once.

I'm glad the opportunity arose in such an easy way :) I agree it's best to be up front and honest (and age appropriate) about stuff like this. :)
