To Xmas that is. Anyone out there got a bit of Xmas cheer you can spare? My kids are driving me nuts! LOL. But seriously. I love Xmas time and no more so than getting our tree and all the decorations up.
We have a tradition in our house that we always get the tree the weekend after the twins birthday. You see when we had them, that's exactly what we did. My sister even came to help. She carried babies, Andy carried the tree and I, well I was 3 days out of hospital with a C-Section so was pretty much carrying myself. LOL.
So that's what we do. This year we had a pretty full on weekend, so we planned everything to get it right. We were up early on Sat morning, got the kids all fed and dressed, then into the car. Off to Andy's work to pick up his car (after his Xmas party) and back across the bridge again to the Xmas tree place.
Going across to Andy's work, we had 'Snoopy's Christmas' on the CD player and the kids and us singing at the top of our voices. It was really lovely. Sarah had started it by singing Jingle Bells. She loves it, and starts right at the beginning, the part that I don't know. Its truely beautiful.
We arrived at the Xmas tree 'shop' by 8.30am! What the?! LOL!
Again, we go to the same place each year. You can chop your own tree down. And if you're super organised (like we were LAST year) then you go early, choose your tree, put a tag on it, then just come back at Xmas and chop it down.
(making our way to the location where we choose from)
When we first started doing this, it would take us ages. Fights were rife and it was quite a stressful time. Eeeeeek, dare I say it? But we are now in tune with each others thoughts on a Xmas tree and setting a better example for the kids. hehehe. And this year, we were there, had found the tree, chopped it down and put it in the back of the car within half an hour! Yep! Pretty cool huh?!
So that was the buying of the Xmas tree. Decorating it was another story, kindof in two parts. I'll tell you all about that tomorrow.
In the meantime, I don't have any photos, as my camera is in the shop getting fixed and the camera I currently have doesn't talk to my computer very well. I'll try and get it working and put some pics up asap.
Edited to add I've just found out I can download my pics by putting the card into the scanner and doing it. yeah. New photo up.
Have a great night.
Sounds like a wonderful tradition! We put up our tree today and started to decorate it! I would love a real tree but with my hayfever it is a no go!

It is a nice tradition. We have a nephew whose birthday is just before Christmas as well and their tree goes up afterwards so that he can just celebrate his birthday first.

Nice idea. Ours went up the same time as yours thanks to the local scouts. God, I hear you about children too.
