Brisbane was crazy. I mean super crazy. It was hot. 35 degrees! We met up with a heap of girlfriends, we shopped til we literally couldn't carry anymore. And we saw Heidi and did some classes.
Here are a couple of pics from our time there
We sat on Santas knee (well Nic did!) and had a photo taken, golly Santas these days are a little naughty, or was that us?! LOL.
And Nic had a very interesting encounter with the customs people coming out of Brissie. Lets just say palm reading is not what you expect when you get a 'pat down' for explosives. What the?
It was nice to get away for a weekend, but I was glad to get home to my babies. I'm a sook at heart. LOL.
One thing that was reiterated while away was how useless my mobile is. Lets say not being able to turn the snooze button for the alarm off could have made the day quite interesting. Thankfully I worked something out. I also couldn't make a call without it nearly running out of battery. So it means that I now have a new phone. Yeah. Bumma is we lost some of my numbers in transferance. I'm hoping Vodafone can help us find and restore them tomorrow. Cross fingers ok.
I've also been thinking alot over the last couple of days. With loss comes alot of soul searching. Wondering. Dreaming. Hoping. Giving.
So I'd like to start another RAK post. I haven't worked out what I've got to give away yet, but it'll be around the same as last time. Roughly. There might even be the same tissues. Definitely some papers. Maybe a punch, an apron, some stamps, tools. Whatever I can find in the sleepout that I can give to one of you.
You won't receive it before Xmas. But I'll get it to you asap after.
Just leave me a comment below and in a few days I'll draw a random winner.
Actually lets make it a bit of fun. What makes your day? What makes you smile? Do you have a good joke you can share? Lets pass some Xmas cheer around.
Later.

Your trip to Brisbane sounds awesome Trina
Things that have made me smile over the last few days are:
My eight year old coming home with an amazing report showing he is two years ahead of most things and his attitude is excellent at school
My five year olds report was good too even with the focusing issues he has been having.
Both boys are going to have awesome teachers next year
Finding (finally) a Xmas pressie for my DH he always buys what he wants when he sees it (within budget limits)which makes it harder to get something
Getting on the team at Scrappin Patch as a guest designer alongside some amazing talent.
Hope you have a great Christmas Trina

My Grandchildren make me smile. At my granddaughters end of year dance production "The wizard of Oz" in which she played Toto, the Scarecrow came on who needed a brain, the Tinman came on who needed a heart, then the Lion came on and my grandson lent over and whispered in my ear "He needs cabbage" of course he needed courage, I just thought that was adorable and still brings a smile to my face.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and everything good in 2009

Love the photos - looks like it was a lot of fun. And since I work with kids all day, I'm either laughing or crying! On Tuesday the kids did their concert for their families and D stood there and before each song would yell out 'hey Mum, you'll like this one, it's really funny...' now that gave us all a giggle. And when they sang 'Santa wear your shorts' they all turn around and wiggle their bottoms - that made everybody laugh - way too cute!

wow what an interesting sounding trip.... as for sitting on santa's knee.... I see NZ has gone PC and you now sit beside him!!!! as for christmas funnies... we have a boy at kgtn who is very interested in S-A-N-T-A and the other day after many questions my head teacher told G that it was santa on the phone (her partner was ringing and he was gonna be the man in the red suit) you should have seen G's face.... then later on in the day all of the children found that santa had left his 'jingle bells' behind.. luckily I dropped them off for santa!!!! hahahahahha

Awesome trip
Must admit my kids made my day and gave me a huge smile when their reports came in the mail - both were fantastic especially good to see Josh had such a fantastic report for his first year of high school he really pulled it all out after not having a great end of primary school
Jokes I love hearing them but hopeless at re-telling hmmm -lol
Have a great christmas

What makes me smile? At this precise moment it is the trail left my my 15 month old.... Once upon a time there was a whole load of shredded paper that was in a bag and was used for fire lighting purposes. Well the master has found that this morning and there is a trail from the kitchen, through the dining area and into the lounge! She is now sat on the sofa 'reading' the local paper!!!!
Have a Happy Christmas filled with laughter.

The trip to Brisbane sounds like an amazingly good time was had by all...
Making me laugh right now, listening to the Mr's downstairs: they've put on a Christmas carols by kids CDs on in the kitchen and are having a private christmas disco!!!

My funny would have to be this:
DD aged 6 came home with her report. I'm reading through it and all is well. She is where she is supposed to be etc. I get to the last page with general comments and it says "Jamie says that school is TOO hard". While other parents may of freaked at this, this comment made me laugh so hard. It just describes her too a tee!!

Lovely memories make me smile every day . When you are married to someone for 30 years and know how they think it is so easy to think of something to make me smile and it keeps me going. Of course I live for today too and my lovely family and my grandkids also make me smile every day. Have a lovely christmas .

Sounds like you had a great trip, nothing better than a trip away with your girlfriends.
Things that make me smile - children, my friends 3 year old and I were playing rock, paper, scissors and she invented a new move "reindeer" which involves putting her hands on her head like antlers - this means she wins the round lol.
The other thing that makes me smile is watching peoples faces when they open gifts we give them.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Lovely Brisbane photos. What makes me smile? Today I am the mothe rof two teenages and even though I had to take the birthday boy to A&M yesterday and we had to cancel some of his birthday plans, he is still healthy compared to many other children. And last of all, I have a cat that really loves me and is sitting on my right arm whilst I am typing this!

Great pics, looks like you all had a good time.
What makes me smile.....today it's finding the time to catch up on blogs and listening to The Feelers latest CD at the same time.
It's the simple things that make me happy.
Have a fantastic xmas.

Sounds like a great trip.
What makes me laugh - my 4 year threatening to put the cat on trade me for eating christmas decorations. He didn't even know what trade me is when questioned. Too cute!!!

Molly, most definetly Molly - regardless of all that kid has going on with delays and autism, she's always positive, happy & constantly coming out with the funniest things - had a real funk day on Saturday & felt low - but that girl constantly did things to make mummy smile - so sweet!! And then to cap things off, hearing her teacher from this year saying, with tears in her eyes, that she's going to miss Molly next year & wishes she was still in her class - so sweet!!

:) I was here in Brisbane for the heat too. It has cooled off a lot now. :) I hear Heidi was a blast. So pleased you enjoyed your stay.
Night before last we went on our yearly Family Christmas lights tour. We were walking around a display on a family's one acre block when my 5yo daughter pointed at some red and white lights moving across the sky. "Look - there's Santa's sleigh."
The magic of Christmas IS alive!! :):)

Hi Trina good to hear you had lots a fun with the girls. We missed you at the Puke crop though! My biggest smile so far this Xmas has gotta be when Oli was picked to do a solo for the Kindy concert!! We have had our ups and downs with Oli and this just made me so proud of him!!!He sung with such confidence and the best thing was that he was incredibly pleased with himself. It was a proud day for us both.
And a joke ( quite lame though)
What goes Ho Ho Ho Plop?
Santa laughing his head off!!!
(sorry came from the kids at school)

It sounds like you had an awesome trip!
My 5 month old grand-daughter makes me smile every time I see here!
This made me smile today!
Twas the night before Christmas, I'm glued to the tree.
I'm wondering what Santa has brought just for me.
Could it be cardstock or chipboard or lace?
Or a Cricut, I said, with a smile on my face.
And that's when I heard him."Hi Santa, " I said.
"You know....good little girls should be in their beds."
"I know I should Santa,and now I've got caught.
But I was just so excited To see what you brought."
"Well, let's take a look in this room where you work.
He shook his head quickly,And left with a jerk.
I heard him exclaim as he put it in gear.
"You've got enough crap,I'll see you next year"

Getting all my presents wrapped makes me smile (1 more job done!).
Yesterday my hubby came home with a lovely card for me about not waiting for Christmas, birthdays and special occasions to tell people we love and appreciate them. He said that I deserved a treat and presented me with an i-pod, yah. Now that made me very happy.

What makes me smile - that is an easy one, it would have to be when i hear David trying sooo hard to talk and when he comes out with a new word or a pretty good approximation of a new word - way to go my nearly 3 year old!

A fun dinner with my family, an unexpected pleasant comment or greeting, an email from a friend in my inbox, cuddles, completing a layout, looking at our Christmas tree are just some of the things that are making me smile at the moment :-) Hope you guys have had a great break.

Funny thing, I had a good laugh on the way to do some last minute panic shopping. I saw a rather clever travel billboard. It read:
We are close enough to say, Phuket I'm going!
This tickled my funny bone and put me in a better frame of mind for crowded shopping centre chaos!

This lovely email from a friend made my day today ...
My Wish for You in 2009
May peace break into your home and may thieves come to steal your debts.
May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills.
May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips!
May happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy
May the problems you had, forget your home address!
In simple words ............
May 2009 be the best year of your life!!!

Ooh sounds like it was a FAB trip.... here's a cracker of a christmas joke for you.... (I have been hunting down real groaners for in my homemade crackers) - why are chocolate buttons rude? Because they're Smarties with no clothes on! OR... whats green and hairy and wears sunglasses? A gooseberry on holiday? OR... why do reindeer scratch? because they're the only ones who know where they itch!!! Ha ha ha Love it love it love it!
