As I get older, things that make my body work have changed. I now get headaches at certain times each month. Not much fun, but usually can be avoided by enough sleep, good eating etc. At the worst times, I take pain medication.
So last night feeling a headache coming on, I decided to head to bed a little earlier than normal. Whew. I'm gonna cut this headache off at the pass I think to myself as I fade into sleep oblivion.
Until I hear the most traumatic screaming, stamping and shouting at 1.50am!
And oh my goodness me. You know what it's like when you're dragged out of a deep sleep so suddenly and you don't know where you are, and whether you're in the dream you were just having or what's going on. You just know that someones screaming (and this time it wasn't me!) and that means something's wrong.
And I was right. Sort of. The next minute Sarah launched herself at us in bed. She was screaming. And at this stage so was Andy as Sarah had opened the door just as Andy's foot was behind it cutting it.
The next minute Dan's screaming in his room. But he's not moving. He's wised up to this scary thing, and well, when you're little and scared, you don't move, you just scream your lungs out.
But hey, I'm getting a little ahead of myself here. I really need to tell you what happened at the beginning of the night.
Long after Dan was meant to be asleep. He came into the lounge and said he couldn't go to sleep because his bear was snoring and he was scared of the noise. I thought "oh my goodness this kids got a great imagination" as I sent him back to bed.
The next minute I heard this really weird noise coming down the hall. By this stage I'm feeling a little scared myself. Until I see Dan poke his head around the door with his snoring bear. And boy did it snore! Like a dragon. Or what I imagine a dragon to sound like.
Now this particular bear is one that Dan brought with his own money at a market in Mangawhai when we were on our summer camping holiday. And until this very moment, had never uttered a word! So you can imagine our surprise. We all had a great giggle. And kept said bear in the lounge so he wouldn't scare Dan anymore.
Of course, this silly bear, kept snoring every time we spoke, or moved or anything really. So we put it in the kitchen and shut the doors. Keeping our evening snore free.
You can start to see where this is going right?
So as it turns out, what had happened in the middle of the night, was Sarah had gotten up, moved the rubbish bin in front of the fridge (to get a midnight snack from the biscuit tin - OH MY GOODNESS) and in doing so, had disturbed the bear who started to snore. Sarah getting the fright of her life, starts screaming and running and jumping into our bed. Dan waking to the screaming, freaks out and starts screaming too.
And me. Well, after everyone's calmed down and gone back to bed, lay there for another couple of hours trying desperately to get some sleep.
So today I'm living on pain killers and a yawn. Wish me luck.
(The offending bear is that innocent looking brown bear in the middle - batteries are now removed!)

Awwwww, gotta laugh but sorry for you hun, rest easy :)

You will find some intriguing points in time in this article but I don't know if I see all of them center to heart. There is certainly some validity but I will take hold opinion until I look into it further. Fine write-up , thanks and we want more! Added to FeedBurner also
