Fathers Day in NZ today! Happy fathers day Dad. Hope you have a good day. It was lovely to see you yesterday. Thanks for a lovely dinner!
To my own hubby. You are a wonderful Dad. And I treasure the way you father. You teach me things and together we work well as a team. Always have. 11 years ago we married. I wonder what that word will mean in another 11 years? In our time we have been through so much. I've nearly died 4 times. We've had 3 wonderful children. Lost an angel in pregnancy. We've brought and sold houses. Moved. And are just about to embark on another big project. We've changed careers. Crossed the South Island on our own power. Traveled the world.
We've learnt to deal with each others idiosyncrasies (spelling????) and built on each others strengths. Sometimes we're not so good at listening to each other, and other times we're the best. It's what I imagine a 'typical' day to day marriage is, but I don't think our respect and love is either typical or 'day to day'.
And today when I'm feeling down about "other stuff", you build me up reminding me where I've come from and what I'm trying to do with myself. Reminding me that I've come so far, not to let a few harsh words, or forgetfulness, disbelief or whatever it is that's hurt the piece of me that is worth more than that, get to me.
You are my rock and whatever way we started, I'm thrilled with where we're going.
Thank you for being the husband and father I always hoped and knew you would be. Thank you for being my friend. My advocate and someone I trust and respect.
Happy fathers day and happy anniversay.
