Washing. Yep, I said it. It's a dirty word (hahaha) around me, but it has to happen. Everyday we wear clothes and they go in the washing pile. Through the machine, dried and then worn again. I mean seriously! This job never ends!
I think it's one of the jobs I hate the most, and that's why Andy is often seen doing it. He's an inspiration to my washing woes.
But the problem with winter is all the clothes have to go in the dryer.
Not only is this bad for the environment, but it's bad for your clothes.
Did you know that the sun's rays have something in them that actually kill the bacteria left in your clothes after washing! Uh huh!!! Pretty cool huh?!
So my goal to you this week is to throw away the dryer (ok, just keep the door on it closed) as much as you can this week and get those clothes into the natural air and light to dry them off.
We've got a win/win situation here.....it saves you money cause you're not using your dryer, it helps contribute towards saving the environment because you're not using up energy unneccessarily, it saves your clothes from the rough and tumble damage your dryer can cause, the suns rays kill any bacteria lurking in the clothes after the wash AND most importantly, your clothes will smell great! Isn't that the best feeling to climb between freshly washed and washing line dried sheets on your bed???!!!! Ahhhhhhh.
Go on, dare ya!

I am with you on that one Trina. We inherited a dryer which is for emergency purposes only or puffer jackets which require tumble drying. And I always iron pillow cases and tea towels to make sure any bacteria is gone - a carry-on from my mother who advocates ironing the pillowcases helps eliminate nasty nits as "we never had them as children" but are very prevalent in schools today.

We hardly ever use the dryer here either. Only for last minute stuff, finishing off stuff, or when I'm feeling very lazy! Honest the sun still works at this time of year, you just have to pick your moments, and be prepared to hang a few things inside to finish drying at the end of the day:) Also hanging things outside saves heaps on ironing, which is the job I hate above EVERYTHING!!

I hardly ever use the dryer, and I was amazed when I realised that some people used it all the time! For me, I love line-dried clothes and I also love drying stuff by the fire if it needs just a bit more. I only ever put socks and undies in the dryer if I've done a few loads and they aren't getting dry in time.

We don't own a drier, so if it can't be dried outside our double garage has lots of lines in it and we leave the back door up so they dry nicely that. I think IRONING is not a great job either..
